I outfitted in the mountain wilderness of BC. One February we flew up and down one of the main valley’s, the main moose wintering range, about thirty to forty miles long. We counted exactly 62 moose carcasses, wolf kills. We saw wolves on about half of those carcasses. The carcasses were mostly partly eaten. The guts and the asshole eaten first, the rest left as they moved on to another kill. The idea that wolves kill only the old or sick or weak is bullshit. They kill when they are hungry and when they can. The guides and outfitters tried to tell the government how destructive, how many adults and calves wolves and bears actually killed, but they never really seemed to listen. The general public would think we wanted to kill all of the wolves or bears but nothing was further from the truth. We did want to avoid those years where the moose and elk and caribou were about completely wiped out. Which at times they were. I don’t have much use for a government who won’t listen, who regulates hunters and everything else, to help moose and caribou, but not what really needs to be regulated.I outfitted in the mountain wilderness of BC. A story told to me years ago
